Roma Ristorante | Murray, Utah

Why do I always find strip mall restaurants so foreboding? So many times they are amazing and I need to get over it! Roma Ristorante is a great example of a nice surprise, nestled in a small strip mall off of 5600 South and 900 East, a mere block away from our house. While out last weekend with my parents, we were searching for some place close to eat, and ended up at Roma’s front door.

You would never guess that what awaits you behind the entrance is a cozy, welcoming, white linen table clothed atmosphere. From the get go, I was impressed – mostly because I had no expectations entering Roma and found it to be so quaint and charming. Then came our server, who was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. He made suggestions, talked about the specials, and let us take our time.

Menu

We started with the Stuffed Mushrooms ($8.95) – mushrooms stuffed with bolognese sauce, topped with mozzarella cheese, baked, and served with marinara. They were great! The mushrooms were large and cooked perfectly. I really don’t love mushy stuffed mushrooms, and these were cooked just enough to be warm and soft, while maintaining their texture and shape.

We ordered three items off the menu and one special, which was the Eggplant Parmesan. I have to tell you, everyone really enjoyed their dishes. They were beautifully presented, fresh, and the portions were great; not too large. The vegtables all had wonderful color and all of us were impressed with the flavor of our food. There really wasn’t anything we could have complained about. I loved my Cheese Ravioli ($13.95) which came in a creamy white sauce and topped with roasted pine nuts. Both the Chicken Parmesan and the Eggplant Parmesan were very tasty, and the Penne Sicilana ($12.95) with spicy sausage was also excellent. Most entrees are around $12 – $15.

We all decided that Roma Ristorante was a great find and one that we would revisit. Our experience there was such a welcomed surprise and I am happy they are located just around the corner. Their pricing was also, in my opinion, directly on point for what you get. If you haven’t been, I recommend you check them out for yourself! It really is a great neighborhood restaurant!
