Oh, Spitz. You bad, little, delicious, craveable corner restaurant.
I went once, and then it was over. For those of you who have also ‘drank the kool-aid’ — we are in this together now. You know what I am talking about – that insatiable need for Street Cart Fries on a near daily basis.
Sptiz is a lot of things. It is fun, cute, hip, and inviting. But, most of all, it is tasty. Now that I have been a number of times, I can honestly say – everything that has come to my table has been wonderful. Yeah, maybe they don’t sling the most traditional Doners in the world, but they are packed full of flavor. Flavor that dreams are made of.
The Street Cart Doner is a winner. And, it is pretty well known that I am not the biggest fan of lamb – but the beef/lamb selection for this menu item is fantastic. Thinly sliced and delectable, you can’t NOT love it. The Garden Bowls are also noteworthy – fresh and gigantic; they make a statement. The falafel – crispy perfection. But we all know what Spitz’s winner is. Yup, it is the Street Cart Fries. Drool.
Order them to share. Eat them all by yourself. Mix it up with regular and sweet potato fries. Add them as a side to your Doner. Add beef and lamb to them. However you order them, just ORDER THEM. Fries with garlic aioli, feta, onion, green pepper, tomato, olives, pepperoncinis and chili sauce: TO DIE FOR.
And while you are at it – also order a very moderately priced cocktail or two. Or maybe the Rosé Sangria (because it is refreshing and delightful). They have creative cocktails for you until the late hours of the evening. And let’s be honest, what is the best thing you could possibly have after a few cocktails? Yup, Street Cart Fries.
So, friends. That is really all I have to say. This place is the bee’s knees. It’s a great addition to Salt Lake and they are serving up food you can’t get anywhere else. So – if you haven’t yet, make sure to take a lunch hour, or a Saturday night, to get acquainted with Sptiz. It will be your new best friend.
