TACO TACO | Salt Lake City – Heartbeat Nosh

If you blink, you might miss it. So, my advice would be to keep those eyes open.

TACO TACO is the newest streetcart taco style restaurant in the heart of downtown — open right next door and owned by Salt Lake City staple, Cannella’s. If it didn’t have four walls and a door, you might actually think you were getting delicious tacos from a street vendor. But having a four walls and a door is a GOOD thing….WHY?

Margaritas.

I’ll be honest, I had heard some mixed reviews. Some folks singing the praises of the delicious and simple tacos – and others saying it was nothing special. I always try to give a new restaurant a bit of time before doing a write up, because I know there are inevitable bugs to work out. I guess I gave TACO TACO the right amount of time, because my food was fantastic. Also, the margarita was the perfect afternoon pick-me-up after a long work week – and a House Margarita is only $5!

The menu is simple. Pick from Tacos, Quesadilla, or Buritto. Then choose your meat: Zuchinni Blossom (I can’t wait to try these), Al Pastor, Chicken, Chicken Mole Negro, and Carne Asada.

I went with the basics (because you have to do the basics great if you are going to do anything else great, right?). So, Al Pastor and Carne Asada it was! Both were so so good. The Carne Asada was super flavorful and juicy and the Al Pastor melted in my mouth. The fun salsa bar made it easy to add whatever I wanted to my tacos, and again, added to the taco cart feel of the place. We also ordered some chips and guacamole – yum.

I am a taco lover – and this is a great new spot, especially for a quick, low-cost, delicious lunch. Make sure to stop by and support this flavorful and hip new local business! I’ll be back over and over again, I am sure!

Hooray TACOS!
