Trolley Holiday | Trolley Square Brings the Holiday Spirit, Salt Lake City

It’s that time!
Jingle Bells – Silver and Gold – Frosty, that Darn Snowman!

Whether you like it or not – the holidays are upon us! Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and Christmas will follow quickly thereafter. And, while holiday shopping might not be everyone’s favorite thing, I invite you to take an evening and get into the holiday spirit — it can be great for the soul. I recently spent an evening at Trolley Square soaking up the holiday glow, which got me all sorts of excited to get ready for Christmas.

Trolley Square

I love Trolley Square – I always have. When I was a kid, every Christmas my ballet school would perform our holiday routines under the big Christmas trees in the south court. I remember vividly my ballet shoes slipping around while we ran up and down Trolley’s brick floor corridors before and after our performance and then stopped for a sweet treat before we made our way home. Everything always felt so festive. Things haven’t changed – new stores, shops, and restaurants have come and gone, but the vibe of Trolley Square has always remained the same for me. Trolley Square goes all out on decorations – but the classy ones: white lights, evergreen trees, and the best Santa set up you’ll see. The commercial annoyances are left behind, and for me, it is the prefect place to find that extra special gift for someone you love. I get little warm fuzzies when I think of it.

Fast forward to 2014, and Trolley has new things up and coming. They recently did a relighting of the water tower and people seem to be getting excited about Trolley Square all over again. For me, shops like William Sonoma,Tabula Rasa (did you know they do AMAZING gift wrap?) and Pottery Barn & Kids are the perfect stops for buying a special gift (and picking up a few new wine glasses for myself, of course). Not to mention, Trolley is home to one of my favorite restaurants, Dessert Edge Brew Pub – which topped off my recent visit with a pretty epic flourless chocolate cake. My mom and sister also stopped by, so wandering around with people I love made it even better.

Want to skip the madness of holiday lights at Temple Square and surrounding area? Want to avoid the commercial, overdone vibe of the mall? Trolley Square is your answer this holiday season…I can’t wait to take little Clementine to meet Santa for the first time! I get holiday goosebumps just thinking about it!

Make sure to check out Santa’s hours and get your family (or YOURSELF) to meet Santa and alert him of all your holiday wishes. 🙂
