Water

It rushes and folds,

creating skin as pure as salt.

I am the wave that penetrates

the permeable walls of body.

Beneath my core, like current,

this tongue holds

gallons tasting of blue—

speaking forth a tidal

of new births—

unheard sounds.

This belly; a basin able to

hold ounces upon ounces

of unseen blood and movement.

I cradle, with palms of iodized grain,

an empty sieve, and ponder

the moment it will finally

Flood.
