caementum

there was that moment
in the car on a sunday
morning when i stopped
breathing–for a palpable
second–one so full of
substance, my chest caved.
you may not have even
known this happened–but
my clasping fingers finally
clutched, melded, attached
to yours–and now they
are intrinsic. they are
embodied, certain, absolute.
your smile was sealant–
a binding agent so forceful,
a fastening was laid like
concrete–glued like epoxy,
and i am bound.
