black sandy beaches

we saw a really amazing band a few nights ago–the dear hunter.

i don’t know why every time i want to see a band at this local venue called the avalon, i don’t really care so much about the headlining band, but rather opening bands. this was the case with the dear hunter, as well as every other show i have seen at this shitty venue. i went to see as tall as lions open for the same band that the dear hunter opened for this week (dredg) and paid 20 bucks to see 3 songs. the same thing happened this week as well. for whatever reason–probably that this venue is lame, (doesn’t serve alcohol and has an early curfew due to being close to homes) the dear hunter was only allowed to play five songs. big boo fest for that crap. oh well. it was amazing and they were far better than the band they were opening for. i hate that. don’t get me wrong, dredg was pretty good–but not nearly as intricate, lovely or incredibly tight as the dear hunter.

check em out.
