Pizzeria Limone | Downtown, Salt Lake City

If you don’t know about my love for pizza, then you don’t know me at all.

I had been excited to check out Pizzeria Limone for a while – ever since their Ft. Union location opened. But somehow, I could just never bring myself to driving out there. Mostly, because I knew a cocktail wasn’t going to be involved. That isn’t a joke.

Today, I joined a good friend and her brand new baby for some lunch – and Pizzera Limone was a great spot. I was excited that they opened a downtown location, right in the heart of the lunch district. It isn’t far from my office, and it is always nice to have a new option to chose from.

We ordered two different pizzas: The Verdura (house marinara, aged & fresh mozzarella, parmigiano regginao, fresh tomato & red onion, fresh garlic, portobello mushrooms, kalamata olives, fresh basil, olive oil $7.95)  and The Caprese (aged & fresh mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano, red onion, fresh garlic, fresh basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, fresh sliced tomatoes $7.95). I also ordered the Casear Limone side salad.

The salad was pretty meh. The dressing had a hint of lemon, which I liked – but there was nothing really exciting about it. The pizzas were both good – I enjoyed the large portobello mushrooms on the Verdura as well as the sauce. The basil was a little wilted, but the overall flavor was full-bodied and delicious. The Caprese was fresh tasting, but pretty basic. However, the tomatoes were super ripe and the flavors all married very well together. The pizzas are a good size for being individual pizzas. Only half filled me right up. You could definitely order several and share.

Overall, for a quick pizza lunch – with great crust – Pizzeria Limone is a solid choice. It is sort of like the pizza equivalent of Noodles & Company. Quick, fresh, tasty food. The price points are great and you really can have a nice pizza in a short amount of time. It probably wouldn’t be my first choice for dinner, however. Pizzeria Limone caters to the ‘on the go’ eater…and let’s be honest, if I want to savor a Napoletana or gourmet pizza, a glass of wine is in order.

However, they will definitely see me back for lunch! And I wouldn’t mind having the same lunch date. ❤
