November’s HBN Cocktail Club was wonderful! This month, we featured Sugar House Distillery’s Vodka. To kick-off the event, several of us were able to go take a tour of the distillery. This was such an educational and fun time – and I have to give a big shout out to James for taking the time to chat with us, show us around the distillery, and send us off with some amazing Bloody Mary mix! I would highly recommend taking a tour of Sugar House Distillery to see what they are doing and how they will be expanding their operation in the future (whiskey is coming!).
For our Cocktail Club event, we had the most amazing Bloody Mary bar ever! We all know that people enjoy different components to their Bloodies, so our hostess for the month, Gayle, offered up an amazing recipe that she and her husband have perfected over the years, but also supplied us with every Bloody Mary garnish you could think of!
I met Gayle through mutual friends several years ago, but over the past 2 years or so, we have become close due to having babies the same year! Gayle has a darling one year old, Gabe, who is insta-best friends with Clementine, simply due to being born. She works for KUER, is an amazing event planner and marketer, an awesome momma resource for ME, and a super fun friend. Her Bloody Mary also severely kick-ass. Thanks for hosting, Gayle!
Gayle and her hubby worked on this Bloody Mary recipe over the years – and I have to say, it was one of the best I have had. Her trick? Don’t use or create a separate bloody mix. Simply use organic tomato juice and let everyone add their own spices. For Gayle’s “perfect” bloody — celery salt, black pepper, lemon, Tabasco, Worcestershire, and Old Bay seasoning do the trick. Don’t mess up the order in which you mix the ingredients! It makes a difference. Also, don’t forget the beer side car!
The best part? The Vodka – Sugar House Distillery’s amazing vodka was perfect. This smooth, small batch, and easy-to-drink vodka was light, with just the right amount of flavor. Sugar House Distillery Vodka is an ultra-premium spirit that is created by using fresh water from the Wasatch Mountains. Some of the best water in the world. They use local products such as wheat, barley, corn, and honey. And…this vodka is priced amazingly well at under $20!
Check out the slide show below for more photos of how to create the perfect Bloody Mary!
Our next HBN Cocktail Club meets on December 6th for an epic Holiday Egg Nog recipe! I can’t wait.
