It had been a minute since I had been to Copper Common, but just recently we spent and evening there with our friends Andrea and Jesse from Bitters Lab — and it was awesome and wonderful. I wasn’t planning on writing about the evening (so I didn’t have my “real” camera), but we had such a great time I thought I would share some of our favorites!
The cocktail menu is crazy fantastic, and of course the cocktail using Bitters Lab vanilla apricot bitters was first on our list to try. The Good N’ Plenty is tart and tangy, with just a hint of sweetness. This will certainly be a big seller as soon as the warm weather hits us here in Salt Lake City. This is one refreshing, and wonderfully crafted cocktail. The Ancho Common Cocktail was also a favorite — which boasts gin, lime, basil, and ancho reyes chile liqueur. Basically, they are doing cocktails right at Copper Common.
We also had several others, including some classics like an old fashioned, which Adam Bagby at Copper Common just nails. Adam was runner up in USBG’s Fall Cocktail Contest — so to say he knows his stuff might be an understatement. Bartender skill and style — he’s got it.
And if you are like me, and pretty much miss the steam buns from the dear old Plum Alley on a near daily basis — then never fear. You can get awesome pork belly steam bums, that are super reminiscent of Plum Alley’s staple dish. And, they are wonderful. We also had an array of other items: the housemade pickles (which always delight), arugula salad, wedge salad, beet salad (I guess we were in need of some greens in our diet!), and the most amazing wings.
Also, you can’t forget the tots and the deviled eggs — two of my faves. (We ordered a lot of food, obvs). 🙂 The cocktails being great at Copper Common doesn’t surprise me, but I forget that the food is also pretty wonderful too. Perfect for sharing, nibbling, and enjoying pretty perfect evening out with friends.
Thanks to the wonderful company, perfect service, and Adam (our humble and brilliant cocktail crafter)!
