Absinthe and Oysters Education: July 22 | Under Current | Salt Lake City

UnderCurrent-Black-1

Well, isn’t this the most timely thing ever?

The day after my last post, Under Current announced their FIRST in the line of many educational events! I am excited that now you can all attend the very fun and informative event I was able to attend a few weeks ago:

Absinthe and Oysters! (And omg, the oysters are TO DIE for).

Take a trip through time with the world’s two favorite aphrodisiacs at this educational event from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22!

GreenFairy: Absinthe

Absinthe is a neutral spirit infused with a myriad of herbs and botanicals, centering around anise, fennel and a specific type of wormwood, Artemisia absinthium, from which absinthe takes its name. From 1792 when Dr. Pierre Ordinaire released the first batch in Switzerland, to 1837 when absinthe was introduced to New Orleans, to the 1915 ban in France, it has enjoyed a long storied history. Just recently production has returned and the drink has gained popularity.

Led by General Manager Amy Eldredge, and Jim Santangelo, the always entertaining and informative director of beverage for LaSalle and Trio Restaurant Groups, the evening will focus on the history, tasting notes and pairing of three different absinthe brands and three sets of paired oysters.

Cost to attend is $50 for the absinthe pairings and $25 for the oysters and other paired treats.

RSVP by calling 801-574-2556 or emailing Amy@UnderCurrentBar.com.
