New Years Day Brunch – starting at 11:00 a.m.

For the month of December Avenues Proper is allowing a few wonderful beers to sneak out of our cellar. Each year they buy large amounts of the finest beers Utah brewers have created, and age them to perfection. Now and then, when we feel certain beers are at their most beautiful, they will release some from the cellar for everyone to come in and try.For the month of December there is a limited release of 4 beers, and when they’re gone, they’re gone. The list is:

529 OUD BRUIN – 2012 VINTAGE – Squatters 7.15% ABV this was brewed in 2010, and aged for 529 days.
-brown ale soured in oak, has notes of cranberry, orange pith, and leather


ELDER BRETT SAISON – 2013 VINTAGE – Epic 9.3% ABV
-a brett yeat nose, tart with oak tannins and sweet malt

SWITCH II SOUR RED ALE – 2014 VINTAGE – Wasatch 8.0% ABV
-aged 2 years in port barrels, has wonderful notes of strawberry and raspberry

REVE TRIPEL – 2013 VINTAGE – RedRock 10.3% ABV
-dry and tart, notes of green apple, toasted cracker,-this beer has a great champagne style mouth feel and finish, perfect for this time of year.

On Christmas Eve, Bambara will be open for breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Chef Powers’ dinner menu and seasonal specials will be served from 5:30 until 9 p.m. On Christmas Day, Bambara will be closed to allow employees to spend time with their loved ones.

Weekend brunch will be served Friday, Dec. 26 through Sunday, Dec. 28, served from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. in addition to dinner each evening from 5:30 p.m. Prices are a la carte and range from $2 – 16. Powers’ signature dishes, including Bambara Benedict and Classic Caesar Salad, join brunch items such as: Croque Madame,; the Grilled Chicken Club sandwich; and an all new brunch entree, Grilled King Salmon Salad.

On New Year’s Eve, Bambara will be open for breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m., for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will be serving Chef Powers’ dinner menu and decadent specials from 5:30 p.m. Special course offerings include: Short Ribs or Veal Cheeks with Dungeness Crab and Truffles; Kumamoto Oysters from Washington with Champagne Mignonette; Endive, Stilton and Blood Orange Salad; and Buckwheat Blinis with Caviar. Specials are priced a la carte.

Open for New Year’s Brunch: Executive Chef Nathan Powers’ house favorite dishes, Bambara Benedict and classic Caesar salad, will join new brunch items such as: Chef’s Honkin’ Breakfast Burrito with eggs, pork carnitas, avocado, cheddar, tomatillo salsa and chipotle crème fraîche; the Grilled Chicken Club sandwich made with smoky bacon, roasted summer tomatoes, romaine lettuce and aged white cheddar; and the American Wagyu Burger with aged Gruyère, mushrooms with an optional fried local farm egg on a ciabatta with truffle aioli and house frites. Prices are a la carte and range from $2 – 16. Reservations are highly recommended.

On Christmas Eve, Faustina will be open for lunch, then for dinner from 4:30 until 8 p.m. with Chef Kemp’s winter dinner menu plus an evening special. Faustina will be closed Christmas Day so employees can enjoy the holiday with their families.

On New Year’s Eve, Faustina will be open for lunch. For dinner, a decadent four-course menu of Kemp’s playful mix of traditional and new American favorites will be served from 5 p.m. The cost is $50 per person with an additional $20 for suggested wine pairings. Cost does not include tax or gratuity. Faustina will be closed New Year’s Day.

COCKTAILS:

FCocktailsaustina recently rolled out an all-new hand-crafted cocktail menu of timeless classics and new twists. This new menu accompanies fine-tuned wine, beer, and liquor selections that are a perfect match for Chef de Cuisine Joe Kemp’s new winter and holiday menus.

Newly created libations include a light and refreshing French 75 with Tanqueray, sparking wine, lemon and gomme. Winter classics include Hot Buttered Rum with Kraken dark run, house-whipped cream and spiced butter; everyone’s favorite Negroni with Tanqueray, Campari, sweet vermouth and an orange peel; and Dark & Stormy with Kraken dark rum, Cock & Bull Ginger Brew and Angostura bitters with lime.

These accompany a delicious roster of beverages including Josh’s Old Fashioned, The Broadway featuring Salt City vodka (new to the market by Faustina’s bartender Aaron Illot), Campari, blood orange purée and grapefruit juice; Cinnamon Stone with Salt City vodka, Frangelico, pear purée, lemon and cinnamon; a classic Moscow Mule and new Salt City Mule, a variation with Salt City vodka, Cock & Bull Ginger Brew, Angostura bitters, basil and lime.

Oasis Cafe will greet revelers this New Year’s Eve with a special four-course prix fixe menu from 5 p.m. Mirroring Chef de Cuisine Efren Benitez’s creative daily menu filled with local organic vegetables, sustainably ranched meats and freshest seafood, the New Year’s Eve menu has something for everyone. Cost is $40 not including suggested wine pairings, tax or gratuity. Regular breakfast and lunch hours will be in force on Dec. 31. Reservations are highly suggested and can be made by calling or visiting OasisCafeSLC.com.

New Year’s Day brunch at Oasis Cafe is also a favorite with locals. It’s loaded with traditional breakfast dishes, soups, salads and sandwiches. Brunch is ala carte and will be served from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with lighter fare served from 2:30 to5 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 9 p.m..

Oasis Cafe’s kitchen will close at 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve but they will be open for beverages and baked goods until 5 p.m. and be closed all Christmas Day to allow their employees to enjoy the holidays with their families.

Cafe Niche Niche Caffe Niche on 300 South will be hosting a special four-course New Year’s Eve celebration featuring Executive Chef Ethan Lappé’s creative and healthy creations. Dinner, beginning at 5 p.m. will include an amuse bouche, soup or salad option, and a choice of appetizer, main and dessert course options. The cost is $50, not including tax or gratuity. Wine pairings will be hand selected and are available at an additional cost. On Christmas Eve and on New Year’s Day, Niche will be open for brunch from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and will then close. Awarded “Salt Lake’s Best Breakfast/Brunch” by Salt Lake magazine, Lappe’s focus is on offering healthier alternatives with amazing flavor. Highlights include his light Niche Breakfast Plate with two local free range eggs, avocado topped with extra virgin olive oil and black sea salt, sautéed spinach, and two slices of toast or dressed tomatoes; his hearty Breakfast Burrito with potatoes, scrambled local free range eggs, local cheese, pico de gallo and choice of pork chili verde or vegetarian red chili with black beans; and the popular Buttermilk Sour Cream Pancakes with wild blueberry sauce.
