Avenues Bistro on Third | Local Tastes Better!

I met a friend of mine for lunch a few weeks ago at one of her favorite spots, Avenues Bistro on Third. I hadn’t been there yet, so I was excited to finally check it out. I was super impressed. Avenues Bistro is darling, warm, and inviting. The server was especially attentive and welcoming, which always feels nice when you enter a restaurant for the first time. Everything had a classic vintage feel to it and the sea salts and pepper had me at hello. (Regular table salt just doesn’t do it for me).

Avenues Bistro Menu

My friend led the way when it came to ordering. She said her favorite menu item was the huevos rancheros ($8.95), which you can order all day. That’s right, breakfast all day. I love it. So, we both ordered that as well as their cheese plate ($10.95), which changes almost daily. Both were excellent. The cheeses and honey were all local and the huevos was light and fresh – leaving you satisfied but not over-filled. Not many huevos dishes can do that. Honestly, you can just tell that the food is fresh. Menu items can be simple because they are full of flavor due to being harvested locally here in Salt Lake — and not be transported in a refrigerated truck. Damn the frozen food! Avenues Bistro also serves great dishes such as fish and carne tacos, a daily pasta special, and polenta and mushrooms. There is plenty for the vegetarian and the meat eater alike!

Avenues Bistro on Third serves local, organic, free range, and wild food. This is very apparent when you step in the door as their decor also does a great job of promoting eating fresh and local. It is so important to support these local restaurants who then support local growers and farmers. You can taste the difference and at the same time we support our local economy. Avenues Bistro does a wonderful job of showcasing the best of Salt Lake City and presenting their food in a delicious and unique way. I can’t wait to get back and check out more of their menu!

How many times can I say LOCAL? I reiterate for emphasis. 😉
